Congratulations Tosca Waerea!
"Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body."
Successful people read. And this week's Awesome Award winner, Manurewa librarian Tosca Waerea, goes out of her way to ensure her library customers get to read what they like, as Christina Bevan explains: "Tosca used to work in the Manukau City Branch of the Library, and due to her helpfulness and friendliness, we soon realised that we had the same taste in books. When I was put on a month's bed rest before having my 4th son, she began requesting books for me (through no input from me), to be picked up by my husband at the Howick Branch. Tosca then continued this for the months following, when I was not mobile. I have since moved to Howick, and Tosca has transferred to the Manurewa branch, but two years later I still feel like it is my birthday every time I go into the library to pick up a book that she has requested for me (yes, she is still providing that extra service). It is wonderful to go in and get a lovely surprise. She has opened my eyes to authors and styles that I might never have tried. I truly think that this is giving exceptional service in what must often be a thankless job! "
Congratulations to Tosca Waerea of Manukau City Libraries: A worthy winner of a KiaOraMai Awesome Service Award.
