Congratulations Memphis Wright!
14 year old Memphis Wright is the youngest ever winner of a KiaOraMai Awesome Service Award and was nominated by 81 year old Waikato Times subscriber Patricia Waugh.
As Patricia explains, Memphis has been caring, friendly and supportive during in the years she has been making deliveries - proving it's the little things that make such a difference:
"Memphis has been delivering our Waikato Times daily paper for a couple of years now. She was 13 years when she started and as we live down a long drive she has always delivered the paper to our front door.
She has a little chat and throws the Jack Russell's ball for him several times before she continues on her way.
When my husband died last year she attended his funeral and made herself useful by pouring all the cups of tea and coffee for about 70 people. As I am 81 years old I greatly appreciate her visits and the service that she gives.
When there are often endless stories about the wrong doings of young people it is great to have contact with such a treasure."
