Congratulations Julie Day!
Julie Day of Bay Audiology in Papakura was nominated for a KiaOraMai Awesome Service because of Pauline Vipond's story:
"My elderly mother wears hearing aids. She also suffers from Alzheimers and, in sometimes in her confusion she removes the hearing aids from her ears and hides them.
Added to this, on three occasions recently they were not properly fitted in her ears and fell out and were broken. This necessitated repairs and replacement.
Unbeknown to me (and without being asked) Julie asked the audiologist at Bay Audiology in Papakura to look at the problem. Julie then rang me to say they had found a likely solution: attaching special cords to each hearing aid which clip on to the back of my mother's collar.
Now when my mother removes her hearing aids they remain attached to her clothing, avoiding wasted time looking for them, and costly repairs.
Arriving at this solution took time and lateral thinking.
I am very grateful to Julie and her co-workers for the effort they made on my mother's behalf. It has certainly saved me and the staff at her rest home a lot of time and worry."
